Mother Giovanna Alberoni’s life was a radiant example of compassion in action. From a small village in Northern Italy to the bustling heart of Bandra, she dedicated over six decades to caring for the poor, the sick, and the forgotten.
Armed with her medical knowledge, gentle hands, and an unshakable smile, she brought healing wherever she went—whether in refugee camps, remote villages, crowded slums, or the wards of Holy Family Hospital. She transformed this hospital with her vision, leadership and tender human touch, making it a sanctuary of hope for thousands.
Her guiding words still echo through our corridors: “What you give must cost you — your time must be more valuable than money.”
Charity at the Hospital
The Hospital objective is to provide quality healthcare to the less privileged either free of cost or at concession. This includes:
- Free/concessional access to quality healthcare, diagnostics to both Inpatients and out patients.
- Providing access to safe, affordable and timely surgical support to the less privileged.
- Lifesaving interventions to critically-ill patients
- Mother and child care by our specialized doctors and provision of nutrients/supplements, to tackle issues related to low birth weight.
- Interventional Cardiology, Neurology & Radiological procedures
- Key-hole Surgery, Joint Replacement, Cochlear Implant and Laser Surgeries.
Holy Family Hospital continues to uphold its mission of providing quality healthcare to all, particularly those in financial need. By allocating significant resources for free and concessional treatments, the hospital ensures that access to essential medical services is not hindered by financial barriers.
Our Well Wishers
Holy Family Hospital is honoured to recognise the generous contribution of the Harish & Bina Shah Foundation to its work and to the community it serves.
The Foundation’s support has enabled the renovation of the hospital’s ground floor, external façade, canteen, and paediatric ward — spaces central to the daily experience of patients, families, caregivers, and staff. These improvements have helped create a warmer, more welcoming environment for all who pass through the hospital’s doors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, HBSF provided critical support to the hospital’s relief efforts, including emergency care and a COVID-19 relief fund to ease the financial burden on admitted patients and their families.
The Foundation also commissioned an art installation as a lasting tribute to the frontline workers who served with courage, dedication, and resilience through the pandemic.
