Non-Interventional Cardiology

At Holy Family Hospital, Cardiology offers preventive heart screening, angiography, angioplasty, and heart failure management with comprehensive cardiac expertise.

Our Non-Interventional Cardiology Unit focuses on the use of pain-free, state-of-the-art techniques in the diagnosis and monitoring of heart diseases without resorting to invasive procedures.

Key Procedures:

  • ECHO (echocardiography): this is a scan that uses ultrasound waves to create a very detailed picture of the heart, which is useful in the detection of infection, valve issues, and the efficiency of blood pumping by the heart.
  • TMT (Treadmill Test): It is performed to check the functioning of the heart during exercise to find out if there is any blockage or reduction of blood flow.
  • Holter Monitoring: This is a 24-hour ECG recording that monitors heart rhythm and detects irregularities.
  • Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring: This is a 24-hour blood pressure recording to accurately assess hypertension.
  • Stress Thallium Study: This is a nuclear imaging test that examines blood flow to the heart during rest and stress.
  • Dobutamine Stress Thallium: This assesses how the heart functions under stress using medication instead of exercise.
  • Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE): Provides improved detailed images of the heart from behind the esophagus.
  • 2D Echo: Provides real-time, two-dimensional images to evaluate heart structure and function.
  • Cardiac Electrophysiology: Studies the electrical activity of the heart to diagnose arrhythmias.
  • CT Scans: Utilized in the detection of heart disease and plaque buildup in the arteries.
  • Other advanced non-invasive investigations include T Wave Alternans, Heart Rate Variability, and Signal-Averaged ECG, all aimed at identifying patients at high risk for sudden cardiac arrest and offering timely preventive care.
